Margaret Phillips

Ok, so I have been a slacker lately when it comes to blogging but let me just say this.....I have been SO busy!! As you all probably know by now, I am going to college to get my CNA. Well, long story short....one of the CNA teachers at Dixie State College (who lives in Hurricane) recently went through and is still going through a horrible experience. The story below I copied and pasted from her online "care page" that her husband created. I feel so bad for this family. From what our instructor has told us, Margaret has no family around and they just recently moved to Hurricane into the 12th ward. We, the CNA students, are doing everything we can to raise money to help her husband and four children. They are in desperate need of friends right now. I have never met Margaret or "Maggie" as the teachers all call her. If you are interested in reading her online Care page you just type www.carepages.com then search Margaret Phillips and the website is Maggies coming back. I think you might have to fill out one small page to set up a name and password. It just breaks my heart to hear of people going through such hard trials. It really makes me realize how minor my problems are. I am so thankful for my Family, health, home, financial security, etc. Margaret was a normal person just like me and you on August 13th. She had a full schedule of teaching lined up for the fall semester. As it stands today, she is paralyzed from the neck down and her prognosis is bleak. I know this is a very depressing blog but I just thought maybe one of you might have some ideas for fundraisers. Today I called a friend who is willing to fly her from SLC to St George free of charge. How generous is that? The life flight alone to get her up there was $16,000.00. YIKES! You should have seen our teacher on Tuesday when she told us the story. She spent over an hour of class time explaining the whole story. There was alot of emotion and it was incredible to see the love and concern that total and complete strangers were showing.Anyhew...I could go on and on about the details but I better get to bed...If Ma ain't happy ain't nobody happy..and that applys to me when I don't get my sleep. Please keep Maggie and her family in your prayers. Here is the direct link but I am not sure if it will work.I also added it to my links:)

Margaret's Story
MAggie's journey began on Thursday, August 14th when she began mentioning some discomfort in her left shoulder blade. By Friday the pain had worsened and spread across to the right and up her neck. Thinking it was fatigue and sore muscles she spent the weekend developing a low grade fever then breaking it and beginning again. Unable to sleep all this time and becoming increasingly uncomfortable, Maggie complained that her head and neck were getting worse. Monday she couldn't move her neck or head and we went to the doctor's. His assistance yielded no help. By 5 p.m. Tuesday, Maggie's pain was unbearable prompting our trip to the E.R.
The Doctor there was mystified and a variety of symptoms that at face value didn't seem to have anything to do with each other but he took her condition deadly serious. By 2A.M. Maggie was in ICU. At 10A.M. she was no longer able to move anything below her neck, and was having significant trouble breathing. A subsequent MRI revealed a massive infection from the base of her brain down her cervical vertebrae. It was compressing her brain stem and spinal cord. We life-flighted her to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah where she underwent surgery to relieve the pressure and remove the abscess and infection.
These unexpected and unexplained events have placed on a long and challenging road. Through the continued efforts of the medical team, Maggie's efforts, and your prayers and support, she has begun her way back. Would you please join us as we go, praying and believing the possibilities are limitless.
