Vote for Lindsay!

This week is the annual student council elections at Hurricane Intermediate School. Lindsay loves to be involved in everything. She especially wants to be one of the 5 kids the student body choose on Friday. This week has been crazy trying to make sure she has a poster ready, Tshirts to pass out, flyers with candy for her handout and a skit...AHHHHHH You could say things have been a little wild at the Kapcsos house lately. So far we have met all the requirements. Lindsay thought it would be so cool to write, "Vote for Lindsay" on my car. Being the awesome Mom that I am, huh hummm, just kidding, I agreed. I have had lots of people honk and scream out their window, "Go Lindsay!!" The things you put up with for your kids....Aye? She did her presentation today in front of the entire school. I was so proud of her. For how nervous she seemed before, she totally took charge once she had the microphone. She would be a great motivational speaker. Sometimes I wonder where she came from because the rest of the family is so shy. Nothing seems to scare her. Any hew...She made the top ten. Friday is the day the school kids pick their top 5. I hope she gets it!

UPDATE: Well Lins didn't make student council. She was a little sad but that's life. She will just have to try again next year. It's all good:)

Jenna got a haircut!

Well...after months and months of begging to get a haircut I finally gave in...(sniff, sniff) Jenna's wish came true. We were at the mall and I decided to just go do it. Jenna absolutley LOVES to comb her own hair and on this paticular day she had done a magnificent job of it. I think it took us 20 minutes to untangle all the elastics and ribbons.(Hee hee) I have really been trying to not be such a controlling Mom and just let my kids have their own identity.....who cares anyhew? Life is just too short to be perfect right> Jenn thought it was just the most beautiful hair-do ever so who cares if people can't take a joke right? just kidding. Through a Mom's eyes she looked like a little homeless child but to her it was just BEAUTIFUL.I guess what I am trying to say is I am trying to not stress the small stuff so much. I just figured it would be alot easier for her to comb if it was a little shorter...SO, we stopped in at the JCP Salon (since it was the only salon open in St George that late). Marleen, whom we had cut Lindsay hair a few months back, did a great job. When she was all done Jenna had a smile from one ear to the other. She LOVES it! I kept her hair they cut off for her memory box. Now that it's cut I really do like it better.

Dixie State College here I come!

This morning I went to Dixie State College and enrolled in the CNA (certified nurse assistant)class for the fall semester. Classes start next Tuesday. I have been thinking about this decision for awhile now. When Kim was in the hospital last week, I asked one of his CNA's what they did in order to become certified. After discussing it with her I decided it would be a great thing for me and our family. With Kim's health like it is it will be a peace of mind to have something to fall back on if I ever need to be the bread winner. It costs $400.00 for an 8 week course. I will be going to the Tuesday and Thursday evening class from 6-8pm. There will also be some lab classes and clinicals. In just 2 short months I will have my certificate (hopefully). I am a little nervous about going back to college after 16 years. One of the added benefits of getting this certificate is if I land a job at DRMC (Dixie Regional Medical Center) then all I will have to do is work three 12 hr shifts which can be night shifts and I will get full medical benefits for our family and 401k, etc...I have stressed alot about the fact that we don't have any health insurance..(we just cannot afford it) So the health insurance alone will make it worth it.I have always wanted to pursue a career in the medical field...nurse, emt, etcc.. Lots of people have told me a CNA is a great place to start. anyhew....hopefully I have not bored you to tears. Wish me luck:)

Update: I attended my first class tonight and I absolutley loved it. That's when you know you're in the right field. It is going to be a ton of work but at least I will enjoy my job someday...(hopefully) thinking positive here (Hee Hee) It helps to have a few familiar faces in the class also. Wilma Demille in our ward is also taking the same course so it will be fun to get to know her better.

Hospitals are not fun!

We have had quite a crazy week to say the least. One of the many catastrophes was Kim spending a few days in the hospital. It all started last Tuesday evening. Kim said he wasn't feeling well and went to bed. The next morning he woke up and headed off to work. Around noon he came home and said he had been throwing up all morning...I thought "Hummmm maybe he just has the stomach flu or something?" He slept for a few hours and when he woke up he threw up some more. This continued for 2 days straight. He would take a swallow of water and it would come right back up. I told Kim, "We should take you over to instacare....something just is NOT right." He kept hoping it would go away but it continued to get worse. FINALLY...after me nagging him into the ground to go to the doctor he said..."OK you win...please take me to instacare". Once there they immediately put an IV in him because he was so dehydrated. After taking a few blood tests the doctor came in with a surprised look on his face. He said," Um Yeah....we're going to admit you to the hospital right away." Kim's enzymes in his liver were off the charts. After consulting with another doctor in the building they both figured Kim had a blocked tube between his gallbladder and liver. They said he would need emergency surgery that night. Once at the hospital they continued to run tests on him through the night...I sat up with him and counted 16 pokes in one arm...poor guy! They took a sonogram and determined it wasn't his gallbladder....which totally baffled the doctors. They called it one of those strange medical mysteries. Kim started to run a really high fever and was sweating profusely...soaking his pillows. After many more blood tests and blood cultures etc...they decided he had traces of industrial chemicals in his blood...so it must have been accidental poisoning...? The doctors had me run home and bring back any chemical that he had used in the past week which included cockroach spray, round-up, etc... The only thing Kim could think of that he may have ingested was termite spray they had sprayed the day before or concrete sealant they had used a few days before. After they determined it wasn't any of these and still not certain of what to diagnose him with the doctors called in a gastro-oncologist. By now it was 10 pm Friday night. Kim was finally able to keep some food down and his fever had broken. The doctor decided it would be OK for him to go home as long as he came back next week for more blood tests. Kim was so relieved because he was stressing out about the hospital bill. Today is Monday and he is still not feeling so well. He stayed home once again from work...I sure hope he is able to get back on his feet soon! Oh and by the way...when this was all happening I called Tiffany to see if she would check on the girls for me while I ran him to the hospital. She is such a sweetheart...(THANKS TIFF!!) She gathered up my girls, fed them dinner, did my dishes... how emberrasing...sheeeesh..(my house was a WRECK from taking care of Kim for 2 days straight), and she took the girls to her house to spend the night. I really appreciate having such a close friend for a neighbor. The next morning I came home around 5am after staying up all night...and got the kids off to school. Afterwards I headed back to the hospital. My sister Suzie took Alley and Jenna home with her that afternoon...(She is such a honey!) and Holli and Lindsay stayed at the hospital with me...they thought that was just SO COOL! Kind of like a little mini vacation...what some funny girls... They had fun zipping down the elevator to the munchie machines. ANYHEW....it was hectic to say the least but it sure made it easier to have friends and family to turn too. Hopefully I haven't bored you to death. Now ya know the scoop. As for now, the doctors are watching Kim really really close because they say he has extensive damage to his liver. Jennifer Blansett put his name on the prayer roll at the temple so I know Heavenly Father will hear our prayers. I will keep y'all updated if anything changes.

Anyone want a Kitten?

Abbey, our tabby, gave birth to 6 little kittens on Sunday afternoon. They are all so cute! Poor little Abbey had her first batch of kittens around 6 months or so ago. We had an appt to get her spayed but she went into heat before D day...SO another 6 weeks of protecting the poor little creatures from the wrath of the kids. Hopefully this time we can get her fixed in time. Susan from the best friends animal sanctuary has her scheduled for October 28th to get fixed. The little runt of the bunch had it's cord tangled around one of the other kittens feet when it was born. The poor little thing was only the size of my thumb because it couldn't get any nutrition through the cord.I had to cut the cord off the other kitten...it was so sad to watch the little runt. It looked like a little baby bird. We were all hopeful that it would survive.....this morning it was latched on having some breakfast so I thought OH GOOD....schew it will be fine. A few hours later I went out to the garage to check on them only to find the "little dude" as the kids dubbed him, had died. Baylee and Jenna had a little funeral and blew it kisses before we buried it. They handled it just fine. I think it is good for them to learn about birth and death. We had a little talk about how it's spirit was going back to heaven. So if anyone wants a kitten they will be looking for a home in around 6 weeks:)

Yankee Meadows

Last weekend we had our first ever Jessop family reunion campout at Yankee Meadows. Friday afternoon as we were packing up to leave the thunder storms started rolling in and I thought "oh great" this can't be happening!...the one weekend we plan our outing....blah blah blah BUT, It turned out to be a beautiful weekend.YEAH!! We started our campout weekend on kind of a crazy note because just as we were heading down 700 west taking a right by the chevron two cars collided right in front of our car coming to a stop 2 feet away. I jumped out and helped 2 people out of their cars and called 911 because it looked as if the one vehicle was on fire. Being in the intersection it was quite a big commotion. Any hew...after a half hour or so we were on the road only to hit another disaster. On the way through Cedar City we stopped at the Loves gas station to fill up our gas cans and Lindsay sat her brand spanking new camera down on the cupboard while she filled up a drink and someone, somehow, STOLE her birthday camera. She was and still is heart broken to say the least! We searched the building inside and out for an hour and even had the clerk announce it over the intercom offering a reward but it was obviously long gone. It's sad we live in such a dishonest world. Well the weekend was a huge success filled with lots of fun and laughter. Three of my sisters (Rula, Suzie and Janetta) and 3 brothers (Carl, Russell and Andrew) and their families came to the cam pout along with my nephew Ryan. We are planning on making this an annual event:)

Back to School!

Lindsay and Holli sporting the newest Hollister digs....

Best Buds always stick together....especially on the first day of school.

Lindsay was so excited to not be in elementary anymore! She is ready for something more challenging.

Sisters and Friends!

Alley and Mrs. Blad

Jenna and Mrs. Nielson

The girls were all so excited to go back to school today. After the long lazy summer of sleeping in until whenever we felt like getting up and going to bed whenever we felt like it, I was a little stressed that I might not hear my alarm clock. But, just like clock work I awoke at 5:30 am and started the day. The morning went really smooth since we weren't rushed for time. All the girls were ready to go by 7:30am. This year Holli is going into 9th grade (high school), Lindsay is going into 6th grade (intermediate), Alley is going into 3rd grade (Mrs. Blad), and my baby **sniff sniff** Jenna is going into Kindergarten (Mrs. Nielson). It is a new beginning for each of them and hopefully we will have a great year filled with good memories, friends, laughter and learning. Last night we sat down and wrote some family goals for this school year...Also, yesterday Holli tried out for the high school volleyball team. There were 28 girls who tried out and only 12 were picked. This morning they were able to see the results of who made the team and she was SOOOO nervous and hopeful that she made it and guess what she found out? SHE MADE IT!! wahoooo. Today after school they actually have one more elimination round where they cut 3 more girls so Holli is keeping her fingers crossed. She wants this worse than anything. She told me," Mom I finally found something I really LOVE". Keep your fingers crossed.

UPDATE: Just a little update to let ya know that Holli made the second cut so she is on the team. YEAH!! I am so proud of her and excited for her. She really really wanted this:)

Photoshop anyone?

OK so I was wondering through the what kids want expo yesterday and came across this cool booth on how to do digital scrap booking. They were offering to take pics of your kids and alter them using photo shop for $2.50 a pic. It looked like so much fun so we tried it. While waiting for the pics I browsed through some photo albums this lady had done using photo shop and they were so flipping cute that I seriously got the goosebumps! I have wanted to learn how to do this for awhile now so I asked the lady how she does hers. She said she will come to your house and teach you if you can find 5 friends who are interested. She charges $15.00 per person which will include a trial CD so you can go home and start what you learn and much more. She said most people learn everything they need to know in one class but if you ever have any questions you can call her...SO, if anyone is interested in attending a little party at my house to learn about digital scrap booking I definitely would like to host a party. I have thousands of pics I want to make into albums for my girls and ME:)

Happy 11th Birthday Lindsay:)

For Lindsay's 11th Birthday she wanted a "Mom and Daughter day". So, we spent the day in St George going school shopping, getting a pedicure, ate at Cafe Rio, and just had fun hanging out. This was the first time we have ever really spent that much time alone and it was fun just having the time to chittie chat about school, friends and life in general. It's amazing the things you can find out about your kids if ya take the time to listen. I am always so darn busy I forget to just sit and listen. Anyhew....the day before her Bday we opened presents and ate cake and ice cream. She just could not wait one more day...hee hee that is just how I used to be. She thought she had all her presents figured out but we tricked her this year by adding blankets and rocks to her presents so she couldn't figure them out by the weight. We are sneakie huh? I would say she was just a little spoiled this year!

Isn't that the coolest thing to just sit there and have someone pamper you? Lindsay chose blue and white polka dots and I chose pink with a flower.Lots of fun....especially since I only spent $ 15.00...Coupons are wonderful!

What Kids want EXPO

Yesterday I took my 4 girls and Baylee to the "What Kids Want Expo" in St George. We had alot of fun going on rides, face painting, balloon drop, snow cones, bouncie houses and getting some cool pics with photoshop. I will have to post those on here as well. The girls helped me all day Friday so they could go to the expo on Saturday. It was alot smaller than last year but we came away with some fun memories:)
